I just want to have a digital record that I've lived at least 30 years in this beautiful planet. Things happen around me are breath-takingly amazing. I thank Creator for this experence, memory, and everything.

A mural(?) in the IBB building

Whenever I pass by the IBB (Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience) building which is in between the W23 parking lot and the Whitaker building I work in, I encounter this huge mural or picture. Today, after finishing an all-day long meeting with Young Sang and Chris, I encounter this again. I do not think that this one is very aesthestic or highly beautiful. Instead, the painter seems to be forced to draw some bioengineering-ness in it. However, in a building of an engineering department, having this kind of huge, about three-story tall, semi-artistic artifact is a rather seldom case. Sometimes, I eat my lunch in the second floor of the spiral stairs of this building. I enjoy this while I enjoy my lunch box. Hm, I think that I need a name for this. What about "it's bio-engineering department, dork!"?

간만에 주말에 랩이로군...

연구실이 Biomedical Engineering 건물로 옮겨온 이 후에는 주말에 남아서 뭘하게 되지가 않는다. 주차장이 멀리 있는데다가 한창 M-Building이 공사중이어서 한 번 차를 빼서 나오게 되면 연구실로 돌아오기보다는 집으로 향하게 된다. 전에는 주말에 한 주 동안 밀린 공부도 하고, 다음 주 준비도 하고 해서, 주말동안 정리가 되어가면서 일이 진행이 되었는데, 주말 정리가 없다보니 일이 산으로 가다 계곡에 처박혀 썩고 있는 경우가 생기고 있다. 책상 위에도 알 수 없는 논문들이 산처럼 쌓여서 전혀 읽고 싶은 생각이 없어지고...

역시, 인간은 환경에 영향을 받는단 말이지. 환경에 영향을 안 받으려고 바둥거리는 것보다는 환경을 변화시켜서 내 뜻대로 내가 행동하게 하는 것이 빠른 것 같다. 풍수지리나 명당자리도 이러한 환경에 영향받는 인간을 깊이 이해한 끝에 나온 것이 아닐런지. 올 7월에 또 한차례 M-Building으로 이사 간다곤 하지만, 지금 공사 진행 정도로 봐서는 아직 어떻게 될지 알 수 없겠다. 그보다는 빨리 논문 쓰고 졸업하는 것이 빠르겠지. 아무튼, 간만의 주말 칩거로 인해서, 책상도 책장도 정리가 되고, 뭔가 좀 집중할 수 있는 환경만 만들어놨다. 깨끗한 책상에 뿌듯해 하면서 글을 쓰곤 있는데, 일은 하나도 한게 없군. :)

이제 다음 한 주가 지나면, 전국 유람을 다니게 될 듯 하다. 하기에 따라 실속이 있을 법도 한 연구다만, 어째 교수님도 흥을 좀 잃으신데다가, 책임지고 해야할 사람이 버벅되고 있으니, 일의 진척이 미진하다. 오늘 내일 좀 정리해서, 전국 유람을 무사히 마치면 좋을텐데.

다음 주에는 늦은 개강 파티를 할 생각이다. 많이들 시간이 되려나.
